If
you are a sailing enthusiast,
you will fall in love with Phaedrus.
Her hull lines were inspired
by a very successful SORC competitor
and she loves going to weather.
We enjoy putting Phaedrus through
her paces and hope to share
the
excitement with you.

The very comfortable shaded cockpit
and her flush deck gives guests room
to enjoy the beautiful surroundings
of the Caribbean. While guests are welcome
to take the helm or help trim sails,
they may also just sit back and enjoy
the ride.
Phaedrus was completely refited in 2003.
The guest cabin has been completely
redecorated. The settee has new upholstery,
the bed has a new Italian cotton bed
cover with new 300 thread-count sheets.
Also new are our Egyptian cotton towels,
sisal rugs, art and floral arrangements.
There is now more storage space in the
guest cabin which will help with stowing
extra bags, shoes, handbags, etc.
The
guest cabin is forward (photo of cabin
and wc above ) with an en suite shower
and head. There is a queen size berth
along with a sitting area and plenty
of storage. Over the queen berth are
separate reading lights for each guest
and two multi-speed fans. There is also
ample floor space to move around without
that crowded feeling.

The
salon is very roomy with lots of comfortable
seating. The large teak and purpleheart
table accommodates dining for four or
for playing games.
Phaedrus
has seven overhead hatches which allow
for excellent ventilation to add to
the guests comfort.
The
crew's quarters with separate shower
and head are aft, giving the guests
total privacy.

Intimate
Weddings
The beaches of St. John in the
US Virgin Islands, make a gorgeous
backdrop for couples who want
a small intimate wedding. Let
us help you plan that special
day. From the marriage license
and cake to the bouquet and the
minister, Leslie and Charles specialize
in making those important details
happen.
Marrying
in the USVI?
It's very easy. First you call
the Territorial Court at 340-774-6680
and request a marriage application.
Allow for mailing time and one
month for processing. They will
need to know when you will be
coming to the islands and when
you will be getting married. If
you have been divorced you will
need to submit a certified copy
of your divorce decree with your
application. The fees include
a $50 application fee and a $50
license fee. The court only accepts
cashier's checks or money orders
made payable to The Territorial
Court of the United States Virgin
Islands. You pick up your license
upon arriving in St. Thomas.
Romantic Honeymoons
Charles and Leslie work hard at
finding those quiet coves and
secluded beaches. Champagne sunsets
and candlelit dinners are Phaedrus'
specialty. And not just honeymoons
- what a great way to celebrate
an anniversary. |
PHAEDRUS
CREW
|
Charles
Swaim and Leslie Jones
are the owner-operators of
Phaedrus and have been living
aboard for ten years. Together
they have sailed over 30,000
sea miles
|
| Charles'
early interest in cooking and
an opportunity to apprentice to
an excellent continental chef
set into motion a lifelong love
of cooking and cuisine. A gypsy
at heart, Charles was educated
in Texas and received a degree
in comparative philosophy. Taking
early retirement from an administrative
position at the University of
Oklahoma allowed the pursuit of
a dream to live and sail in the
Caribbean. Charles holds a US
Coast Guard 100 ton masters license.
The
operation of Phaedrus is shared
by Leslie Jones. Leslie's
first home is central Oklahoma
where she was born and received
a degree in Business Administration.
She left her job at an international
lettering arts magazine to go
with Charles to the Caribbean.
She loves animals, nature and
the sea and would be delighted
to share what she has learned
about the wildlife of the Caribbean.
Lila
is a tabby cat adopted from
the St. Thomas Humane Society
and has almost as many sea miles
as Charles and Leslie. She is
a "people" cat and
will entertain you by chasing
pelicans or curling up next
to you. Check out the new children's
book Lucy and the Busy Boat
written by Liam O'Donnell (www.liamodonnell.com)
to be published by Soundprints
Publishing (www.soundprints.com)
in the Spring of 2004. It is
about a cat that lives on a
boat. At the back of the book
is the profile of a real cat
that lives on a real boat...Lila.
